Ayu is a word our founder, Sienna Noelle, believed to have made up.
As it turns out, Ayu is also a word of Japanese and Javanese origin meaning beautiful or gorgeous. It is also used to define life or span of life, and the combination of the body, senses, mind and soul in ayurveda.
We wish for you to find a sense of Ayu, and all that we have defined it to be, in our herbal creations.

At Ayu Apothecary, our goal is to inspire others to reconnect with the natural world around them. Our journey is one filled with learning and we hope that as we share along the way, others can join us on this path of remembrance.
We know that true wealth lies within our knowledge and how we use it. The magic of these medicines is meant to be shared so that one day, we can put the power of healing back into our own hands.
Our herbal creations are just a gateway into the beautiful symbiotic relationship we share with our planet. A gateway that can to lead to a whole new way of living. One full of harmony with ourselves, each other, and the life that surrounds us.
The Witches of Ayu
I grew up kinda all over the place. My parents were in the film industry so I was fortunate to see many parts of the world starting from a young age. Malibu is where I spent the most years in one place and is closest to what I would call my childhood home. I was blessed with a space where I was free to connect with nature, myself, and my community in such a beautiful way, I knew it was something I could never fully give up when I left.
Fast forward through 10 years of chasing an acting career and trying to figure out who I wanted to become, I found myself walking the path back to those same childhood values. Connection, freedom of expression, and joy.
I have finally found a space where I can take everything I learned through the world of film, art and the natural world, and combine it into my own creation of those childhood values.
As an herbalist in training and green witch, I am finding new ways to share this ancient knowledge with my community as I learn. Sharing my life experience as it’s happening using my creative skill.

I grew up in the beautiful Santa Barbara, CA and spent most of my young adulthood in Southern California. I was fortunate enough to have a father who loved the outdoors and both parents loved the beach and ocean. This opened my eyes to the beauty of nature and how healing it can be. After spending a few years in Oregon where I spent a lot of time in the mountains, the ocean eventually called me back and I moved to San Diego.
Right before I left Oregon, I had started making beeswax candles. I had gone down this rabbit hole of a health journey that started with cutting out toxic products from my home. Candles can be extremely toxic when made from paraffin and soy wax, as well as the fragrances used to scent them, and even down to the bleached cotton wicks so many candle brands use. I wanted to offer people a clean alternative, which brought me to sourcing pure beeswax – the cleanest wax you can burn – and scenting them with essential oils. I even used hemp wicks so there was nothing toxic about them.
My small business had barely taken off before I left Oregon and had to put a hold on it for my move. After almost a year not knowing how I’d be able to start my business up again, Sienna (founder of AYU Apothecary) came to me with the opportunity to join forces! We both dove deep into natural healing and herbs, so together with our passion and love for herbs and my non-toxic beeswax candles, we hope to give people a place where they can go for healing, inspiration, and clean products.
